About the Role
TrophySmack is growing fast – doubling our team in the past year alone. As we scale, we’re looking for an HR Generalist to serve as a trusted, hands-on resource for our employees and leadership team onsite in our Orange, CA offices.
This role will be the day-to-day backbone of our people operations, supporting employees across the full lifecycle — from hiring and onboarding to benefits, payroll, and issue resolution. You’ll help ensure we stay compliant, organized, and employee-first as we continue to grow.
What You'll Do
What You’ll Do
Employee Support & HR Operations
+ Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, payroll, policies, and HR systems
+ Provide guidance to employees on benefits enrollment, tax withholdings, and common HR matters
+ Handle sensitive employee issues with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality, escalating when appropriate
+ Own the company’s annual review and merit process, including mid year check ins and employee feedback cycles
Onboarding, Offboarding & Documentation
+ Own onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and compliant employee experience
+ Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and required documentation
+ Partner with hiring managers to support offer letters, new hire setup, and transitions
+ Actively recruit talent for open and future positions to create a staffing database
Payroll & Contractor Management
+ Support payroll processing, including coordination of payroll runs and ensuring timely, accurate payments
+ Manage payments and documentation for vendors and independent contractors
+ Assist with payroll-related audits, reconciliations, and reporting
Compliance & Policy Support
+ Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including time tracking, meal and rest break policies, and employment regulations
+ Stay informed on evolving employment laws and flag potential risks or required updates
+ Support the maintenance and communication of employee policies and handbooks
HR Systems & Tools
+ Use HR and payroll platforms to manage employee data and workflows (experience with Gusto is a strong plus)
+ Assist employees with system navigation and troubleshooting
+ Help improve HR processes as the company scales
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
+ 2–5 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role
+ Working knowledge of employee benefits, payroll, and tax withholdings
+ Hands-on experience with onboarding, offboarding, and HR documentation
+ Familiarity with payroll processing and contractor/vendor payments
+ Strong understanding of labor law compliance and HR best practices
+ Comfortable managing HR matters in-house while knowing when to escalate
+ Highly organized, detail-oriented, and approachable
+ Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
+ Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Gusto preferred)
